Overview

If you've been using Mailchimp for your childcare center's email campaigns, you don't need to recreate everything from scratch in Enrollio. This guide shows you how to import your existing Mailchimp email templates and edit them visually in Enrollio's Design Editor—no coding required.

What is Importing a Mailchimp Email Template?

Importing a Mailchimp template lets you bring your pre-designed email layouts into Enrollio's Design Editor. When you import a template, Enrollio automatically recognizes the structure—headers, images, text blocks—and converts them into editable components.

This means you can reuse your existing designs and customize them visually within Enrollio's drag-and-drop interface, keeping your center's branding consistent across all parent communications.

Why Import Your Mailchimp Templates?

  • Seamless Template Reuse: Bring over your existing email designs without rebuilding them from scratch
  • Visual, No-Code Editing: Modify your emails using Enrollio's intuitive drag-and-drop editor—no coding knowledge needed
  • Consistent Branding: Maintain your center's look and feel by reusing familiar layouts, fonts, and colors
  • Faster Campaign Creation: Save time by transforming pre-designed templates into editable versions, ready for quick customization

How to Import and Customize Mailchimp Email Templates

Step 1: Access the Email Templates Section

Go to Marketing → Emails → Templates from the left navigation menu. This section shows all your existing email templates and lets you create new ones.

Step 2: Start a New Import

Click the New button on the top right and select Import Email from the dropdown menu. This opens the import tool that lets you bring in templates from external providers like Mailchimp.

Step 3: Choose Mailchimp as the Import Source

In the Import Email Templates popup, open the Import from dropdown and choose Mailchimp. This tells Enrollio to prepare for importing a Mailchimp campaign layout.

Step 4: Add the Mailchimp Campaign URL

Copy the campaign URL from your Mailchimp account and paste it into the URL field. This URL helps Enrollio fetch and recreate the structure of your Mailchimp campaign.

Note: You'll need the campaign URL, not the template URL. If you have a saved template in Mailchimp, create a campaign using that template first, then copy the campaign URL.

Step 5: Enter a Template Name

In the Template Name field, give your imported template a clear, recognizable name like "Parent Welcome Email" or "Tour Confirmation". This makes it easier to find and reuse later.

Step 6: Open in the Design Editor

Select Open in Design Editor, then click Create Template. Your Mailchimp template will open in Enrollio's visual Design Editor, ready for drag-and-drop customization.

Pro Tip: Before importing, review your Mailchimp template to ensure it uses standard HTML formatting. Templates with complex custom code may need minor adjustments after import.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my template doesn't look right after importing?

If your imported template appears misaligned or has missing sections, it's usually because certain Mailchimp-specific HTML structures aren't fully compatible with the Design Editor's block-based layout.

You can switch to the Code Editor to review the HTML and make manual adjustments. For best results, ensure your Mailchimp campaign uses standard HTML and inline CSS before importing.

Can I import templates that use Mailchimp merge tags?

The structure will import, but Mailchimp-specific merge tags and dynamic content rules aren't automatically translated. You'll need to reconfigure dynamic content manually using Enrollio's Custom Values after the template is in the Design Editor.

For example, replace Mailchimp merge tags like *|FNAME|* with Enrollio's custom values for parent names or child information.

Does Enrollio store my Mailchimp account credentials?

No. The import feature only uses the public campaign URL that you provide. Enrollio doesn't require or store Mailchimp credentials or API keys. The platform simply reads the HTML layout from the URL you provide.

Can I import a saved Mailchimp template directly?

Not directly. Mailchimp templates don't have shareable URLs that Enrollio can process. First, create a campaign using your saved template in Mailchimp, then copy that campaign's URL to import it into Enrollio.

Pro Tip: After importing, test your email template by sending yourself a preview. This helps you catch any formatting issues before sending to parents.
