What CC and BCC Do
CC (Carbon Copy) lets you send emails to additional recipients beyond the primary contact in the 'To' field. Everyone who receives the email can see all the email addresses — both primary and CC'd recipients.
BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) also sends emails to additional recipients, but keeps their addresses hidden. When you BCC someone, other recipients won't know they received the email too. This protects their privacy and keeps communications discreet.
When to Use CC and BCC
Parent Communications
When emailing a parent directly but want to keep your director or assistant in the loop, CC them. The parent sees that your team is informed, which can build confidence in your communication process.
Staff Coordination
Emailing a lead teacher about a new enrollment? CC your assistant director so everyone stays on the same page. All parties can see who's involved and follow up as needed.
Confidential Matters
If you need to email a staff member but want HR to be aware without the staff member knowing, use BCC. The staff member's email goes in the 'To' field, and HR goes in 'BCC'. HR stays informed without appearing in the recipient list.
Group Announcements
Sending a newsletter or announcement to multiple families? Use BCC to protect everyone's email privacy. Each family receives the email without seeing other families' addresses.
Vendor Communication
Communicating with multiple suppliers or service providers? Put your primary vendor in 'To' and CC the others. Everyone knows who's involved, promoting transparency while keeping the main communication directed appropriately.

Click on the CC or BCC field to expand it. Then:
- Select an email address from the dropdown (shows all your parent and family contacts)
- Or type in any email address manually
Step 4: Collapse the Fields
After adding recipients, click the CC or BCC field again to collapse it. Your recipients are saved automatically.
Step 5: Send Your Email
Compose your message as usual and hit send. All recipients — To, CC, and BCC — will receive the email with the appropriate visibility.
Replying to Emails with CC/BCC
When you reply to an email that has CC or BCC recipients, you can only do a "reply all." You cannot remove CC or BCC recipients in the middle of an email thread — they'll stay included throughout the conversation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will a new contact be created if I add an outside email to CC/BCC?
No. Adding an email address to CC or BCC does not automatically create a new contact in your Enrollio account.
What if I CC/BCC an existing parent's email address?
The conversation will only appear under the primary contact's thread (the 'To' recipient). It won't show up separately under the CC'd or BCC'd parent's record.
Does CC/BCC work with all email channels?
Yes. The CC/BCC feature works with all email channels in Enrollio, including Mailgun, Gmail (2-Way Sync), Outlook (2-Way Sync), SMTP, and custom email providers.
How does CC/BCC improve my communications?
CC and BCC let you efficiently manage communications by involving multiple people — either openly or confidentially. You can keep staff informed, maintain parent privacy, and ensure the right people have the information they need, all while maintaining professional communication standards.
