Automation Trigger - Call Details
The Call Details automation trigger lets you start automations based on what happens during phone calls with parents and prospective families. This trigger responds to call outcomes, direction, phone numbers, and call dispositions — helping you follow up consistently without manual tracking.
What Is the Call Details Trigger?
The Call Details trigger starts an automation when information about a phone call is updated in Enrollio. This includes changes to call status (like missed calls or voicemails), call direction (inbound or outbound), and custom dispositions you've set up.
You can add filters to make the trigger respond only to specific call scenarios. For example, you might create an automation that only runs when an inbound call from a prospective family goes to voicemail.
Common uses include sending follow-up text messages after missed calls, creating tasks for staff when tours are booked by phone, or tagging families based on call outcomes.
Why Use Call Details Triggers?
Follow up instantly: Automations start the moment a call status changes, so you never miss an opportunity to connect with a prospective family.
Target specific call scenarios: Use filters like call direction, phone number, and disposition to run automations only when certain conditions are met.
Handle calls consistently: Ensure every missed call, voicemail, or no-answer gets the same reliable follow-up across your entire team.
Stop manual tracking: No more reviewing call logs manually — Enrollio reacts instantly to call updates as they happen.
How to Set Up a Call Details Trigger
Here's how to configure an automation that responds to call activity.
1. Open the Automation Builder
Navigate to Automations → Automations and either create a new automation or open an existing one. This is where you'll define what starts your automation and what actions follow.

2. Add a Trigger
Inside the automation canvas, click Add Trigger. Triggers determine when families enter your automation.

3. Select Call Details
From the trigger options, choose Call Details. This unlocks filters related to phone call activity, including call status, direction, phone number, and custom dispositions.

4. Name Your Trigger
Give your trigger a clear, descriptive name like "Missed Call from Tour Line" or "Voicemail on Main Number." This helps you identify the trigger's purpose when managing multiple automations.
The name doesn't affect how the trigger works — it's just for your organization.
5. Add Filters
Click Add Filters to specify exactly which call scenarios should start this automation. You can combine multiple filters, and all conditions must be met for the automation to run.

Call Direction
Choose whether this trigger responds to incoming calls, outgoing calls, or both. This lets you create different automations for families calling you versus your team calling families.
Example: Run a "missed call follow-up" automation only for incoming calls.
Call Status
Select which call outcomes should activate the trigger: no answer, voicemail, busy, or others. The automation runs only when a call updates to one of your selected statuses.
Example: Send a text message when an inbound call goes to voicemail.
In Number Pool
Limit the trigger to calls from a specific number pool. This is helpful if you use different number pools for tours, general inquiries, or specific locations.
Example: Only trigger when calls come through your "Tour Requests" number pool.
Custom Disposition
Use this filter to respond to call classifications your team applies after calls end. Dispositions provide more context than standard call statuses.
Example: Start an automation when a call is marked "Interested in Infant Care."
In Phone Number
Restrict the trigger to calls associated with specific phone numbers. Use this when individual phone numbers serve different purposes in your childcare center.
Example: Only run this automation for calls to your main enrollment line.
6. Save Your Trigger
Click Save to activate your trigger configuration. Once saved, families will enter this automation whenever calls meet your specified conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this trigger run for every call or only when specific details change?
The trigger runs only when the call details you've configured — like call status, direction, or disposition — match your conditions. It won't activate for every call by default, just the ones that meet your criteria.
Can the same family trigger this automation multiple times?
Yes. Each qualifying call is evaluated independently, so a family can enter the automation multiple times if they have multiple calls that meet your conditions.
To control this, use automation settings like re-entry rules or add filters to limit how often families can enter.
How is this different from time-based or activity-based triggers?
Call Details triggers respond specifically to phone call events, not scheduled times or general contact activity. This makes them perfect for real-time follow-up based on what actually happened during the call.
They're especially useful for handling missed calls, voicemails, or follow-ups after specific call outcomes.
What happens if I have multiple Call Details triggers in different automations?
Each automation evaluates call events independently. A single call can add a family to multiple automations if the trigger conditions are met in each one.
Use filters carefully to prevent overlapping or conflicting automations. For example, don't create two "missed call" automations with identical filters.
