Facebook Conversion API Automation Trigger Not Working

If your Facebook Conversion API isn't firing in your automations, the most common issue is using the test button instead of a real trigger event.

How to Properly Test Facebook Conversion API

Never use the "Test Automation" button when testing Facebook Conversion API triggers. This won't work because Facebook requires actual form or booking data to process the conversion.

Instead, follow these steps:

  1. Save and publish your automation
  2. Use one of the supported input triggers listed below
  3. Submit real test data through that trigger

Supported Triggers for Facebook Conversion API

Your automation must use one of these input triggers:

  • Form Submission — when a family submits a form on your enrollment site
  • Survey Submission — when a parent completes a survey
  • Tour Booking — when a family books a tour through your booking widget
  • 2-Step Order Form — when a family completes a payment form

Important: Use the Correct Appointment Trigger

If you're tracking tour bookings, make sure you select "Customer Booked Appointment" as your trigger — not just "Appointment."

The generic "Appointment" trigger won't work because it fires for all appointment changes, not just new bookings from your widget.

Lead Value Requirement

If you're using Facebook's "Purchase" event, you must include a lead value in your automation. For other conversion events, you can leave the lead value blank.

Pro Tip: Always test your Facebook conversions with real data submissions. Check your Facebook Events Manager to confirm the conversion data is being received correctly.

Still Not Working?

If you've followed these steps and your conversions still aren't tracking:

  • Verify your Facebook Pixel is properly connected in Settings → Integrations
  • Check that your automation is published (not in draft mode)
  • Confirm the trigger form or booking widget is live on your enrollment site
  • Review your Facebook Events Manager for error messages
