Overview

The Phone Number Validation trigger helps you automate actions based on whether a parent or family's phone number is valid and can receive text messages. This keeps your contact list clean and prevents you from wasting time and money sending texts to numbers that can't receive them.

What This Trigger Does

This automation trigger fires when Enrollio validates a phone number. It checks whether the number is a landline, invalid, or capable of receiving text messages before you send your first message.

Important: This trigger only works when number validation is enabled in your settings. It runs automatically when a new family is added to your CRM and their phone number is validated. It does not fire based on delivery error codes from your text messaging service.

How to Set It Up

Before you can use this trigger, you need to enable number validation:

  1. Click Settings in your Enrollio dashboard
  2. Navigate to Phone Integration
  3. Enable Number Validation
  4. Create automations that use this validation trigger to handle different outcomes

Practical Examples for Your Center

Text Message Campaigns

When a phone number is validated and confirmed as text-capable, automatically add that family to your text message campaigns. If the number is invalid or a landline, remove them from text campaigns to avoid wasted messages.

Tour Request Follow-Up

When a prospective family submits a tour request with their phone number, this trigger checks if the number is valid. If it's invalid, automatically tag the family as "invalid phone" so your staff knows to request an updated number.

Staff Notifications

Set up an automation to notify your enrollment team whenever a validation error occurs. For example, if a parent submits a landline number but you need a mobile number for text reminders, your team gets an alert to follow up and collect the correct information.

Compliance Protection

Prevent sending texts to invalid numbers, which helps you stay compliant with regulations like the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). This protects your center from potential legal issues related to unsolicited messaging.

Automatic Tagging

Automatically tag families based on validation results. Numbers confirmed as invalid can be tagged "Do Not Text," making it easy for your team to know which families need phone calls instead of text messages.

Pro Tip: Set up a separate automation to send an email to families with invalid phone numbers, asking them to update their contact information. This keeps your communication flowing even when text messages aren't an option.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does this improve my family management?

Phone number validation ensures you only text families who can actually receive your messages. By automatically handling invalid numbers, you keep your contact list clean and your engagement rates high.

What are the main benefits?

  • Better communication — messages only go to valid numbers
  • Lower costs — no wasted texts to undeliverable numbers
  • Cleaner database — automatic tagging and list management
  • Compliance protection — prevents messages to invalid numbers

How does this help with compliance?

This trigger prevents you from sending texts to numbers that can't receive them or aren't appropriate for text messaging. This reduces the risk of compliance issues and helps you follow TCPA guidelines, protecting your center's reputation.

Can I customize the trigger for my center's needs?

Yes! You can create custom automations based on different validation outcomes. Set specific conditions and actions that match your enrollment process and communication preferences.

How is this better than checking numbers manually?

Automated validation saves your staff time and eliminates human error. It applies the same validation rules consistently to every family, and triggers immediate actions based on the results — all without anyone lifting a finger.

What types of phone numbers can be validated?

Enrollio can validate mobile phones, landlines, and VoIP numbers. The validation process determines whether each number can receive text messages, so you always know the best way to reach each family.
