Triggers: Starting Your Automations
Triggers are the starting point for every automation in Enrollio. They tell the platform when to start an automated sequence—like sending a welcome text when a family books a tour, or following up when an enrollment opportunity goes stale.
What Are Triggers?
A trigger is an event that kicks off an automation. Think of it as the "if this happens" part of your automation rules.
Common trigger examples:
- A prospective family fills out your inquiry form
- A parent books a tour appointment
- An enrollment opportunity hasn't been updated in 7 days
- A family's contact information is updated
- A tag is added to a parent record
How Triggers Work
Every automation starts with a trigger. When that event happens in Enrollio, the automation runs through its steps—sending messages, updating records, assigning tasks, or notifying your team.
You can set up multiple automations with the same trigger. For example, when a family books a tour, you might have one automation that sends them a confirmation text and another that notifies your enrollment coordinator.
Common Trigger Types
Form Submissions
Start an automation when a family completes a form on your enrollment site or landing page. Perfect for inquiry follow-up sequences.
Appointment Actions
Trigger automations when tours are booked, rescheduled, or completed. Send reminders, follow-ups, or next-step instructions automatically.
Tag Changes
Use tags to organize families by interest, status, or program. Trigger automations when specific tags are added or removed.
Enrollment Opportunity Updates
Start automations when opportunities move through your enrollment pipeline, go stale, or reach certain milestones.

- Navigate to Automations in your Enrollio dashboard
- Click Create Automation
- Select your trigger from the dropdown menu
- Configure the specific conditions (which form, which tag, which pipeline stage, etc.)
- Add your automation steps
- Save and activate your automation
Managing Your Triggers
You can edit, copy, or pause any trigger from your automations list. If an automation isn't working as expected, check that your trigger conditions are set correctly—sometimes a small detail makes all the difference.
Need to test a trigger? You can manually run an automation to see it in action without waiting for the actual event to occur.
