Understanding the Create New Enrollment Opportunity Toggle

When you're building automations in Enrollio, you'll sometimes see a toggle called "Create New Enrollment Opportunity." This setting controls whether the automation should create a brand new enrollment opportunity each time it runs, or update an existing one.

What This Toggle Does

By default, this toggle is turned off. When it's off, Enrollio looks for an existing enrollment opportunity in your pipeline before creating a new one. This prevents duplicate opportunities for the same family.

When you turn this toggle on, Enrollio will create a new enrollment opportunity every time the automation runs — even if that family already has an opportunity in the pipeline.

When to Turn It On

You'll want to enable this toggle in specific scenarios:

  • Multiple Children: When a family is enrolling more than one child and you want to track each enrollment separately
  • Different Programs: When the same family is interested in multiple programs (like both infant care and after-school)
  • Re-enrollment: When a family returns after previously withdrawing

When to Leave It Off

Keep this toggle off (default) when:

  • You want to update an existing enrollment opportunity instead of creating duplicates
  • You're tracking a single enrollment journey per family
  • You want to maintain one source of truth for each family's enrollment status

How to Use This Setting

  1. Open the automation where you want to add or update an enrollment opportunity
  2. Add or edit an "Update Enrollment Opportunity" action
  3. Look for the "Create New Enrollment Opportunity" toggle
  4. Turn it on only if you need multiple opportunities for the same family
  5. Save your automation

Pro Tip: If you're unsure whether to enable this toggle, leave it off. It's easier to update existing opportunities than to clean up duplicates later.

Common Use Case: Sibling Enrollments

Let's say the Martinez family wants to enroll two children in your center. With the toggle on, you can create separate enrollment opportunities to track each child's application, paperwork, and start date independently.

Without the toggle, both children would update the same opportunity, making it harder to track individual progress.
