How to Use Custom Values for Images in Enrollment Pages and Sites
Custom values let you personalize images across your enrollment pages and sites without rebuilding each page from scratch. You can dynamically swap logos, photos, or graphics based on parent information, center location, or program type.
What Are Custom Values?
Custom values are placeholders that pull specific information from your parent or family records. When applied to images, they let you display different visuals for different families — like showing location-specific photos or program logos.
When to Use Custom Values for Images
Use custom values for images when you want to:
- Show location-specific photos on enrollment pages for multi-site centers
- Display program-specific graphics (infant, toddler, preschool) based on family interest
- Personalize confirmation pages with custom center logos
- Create dynamic testimonial images that change by program
How to Add Custom Values to Images
Step 1: Upload Your Images
First, upload all the images you'll need to your media library:
- Go to Settings → Media Library
- Click Upload and select your images
- Once uploaded, click each image and copy its URL
- Save these URLs — you'll need them for your custom values
Step 2: Create Your Custom Value
Set up the custom value that will determine which image displays:
- Go to Settings → Custom Fields
- Click Create Custom Field
- Name it something clear like "Center Location" or "Program Type"
- Choose Dropdown or Radio Button as the field type
- Add options that match your images (e.g., "Downtown Center", "North Campus", "Westside")
- Click Save
Step 3: Insert the Custom Value in Your Page
Now add the custom value to your enrollment page or site:
- Open your enrollment page or site in the builder
- Click the image element where you want dynamic content
- In the image settings, look for the source or URL field
- Click the Custom Values icon (usually looks like {{}})
- Select your custom field from the dropdown
- The placeholder will appear like
{{custom_values.center_location}}
Setting Up Conditional Image URLs
For images to change dynamically, you'll need to map custom values to specific image URLs. Here's how:
Create a Lookup Automation
- Go to Automations → Create Automation
- Name it "Image URL Lookup"
- Set the trigger to when the custom field is updated
- Add an If/Else condition
- For each option, set the condition to match the custom field value
- Add an Update Contact action that sets a "Center Image URL" field to the correct image URL
- Repeat for each location or program option
Using Default Images
Always set a default image in case a family record doesn't have a custom value assigned:
- In your image element, add a default image URL first
- Then layer your custom value on top
- If the custom value is empty, the default image displays
Testing Your Dynamic Images
Before going live, test that your images display correctly:
- Create test family records with different custom field values
- Preview your enrollment page while logged in as each test family
- Verify the correct image displays for each scenario
- Check mobile and desktop views
Common Use Cases
Multi-Location Centers
Show families photos of the specific center they're interested in. Each enrollment page displays the correct building exterior, classroom photos, or campus map.
Program-Specific Pages
Display age-appropriate imagery based on the program a family is exploring — infant rooms for infant programs, playground photos for preschool inquiries.
Personalized Confirmations
After a family books a tour, show them a confirmation page with their center director's photo and the specific location they'll visit.
Troubleshooting
Image not displaying? Double-check that the custom field is actually populated in the family record. Empty custom fields won't pull any image.
Wrong image showing? Verify your automation conditions match exactly with your custom field options — even extra spaces can break the match.
Image quality looks poor? Upload higher resolution images. The platform will automatically optimize them for web display.
