Overview
When you publish a landing page on a subdomain (like tours.yourchildcare.com), Google Ads may reject it with errors like:
- Circumventing Systems
- Compromised Site
- Final URL Mismatch
- Redirect or URL Loop Detected
This happens because your landing page has two different URLs that load the same content:
https://tours.yourchildcare.com/https://tours.yourchildcare.com/virtual-tour
Google Ads sees this as a redirect or inconsistency, even though the page loads fine in your browser. Here's how to fix it.
Why This Happens
When you create a landing page in Enrollio, it automatically includes a page path like:
tours.yourchildcare.com/virtual-tour
But you might want to use the simpler root version:
tours.yourchildcare.com/
Both URLs point to the same page, which creates a problem:
- Two URLs → One page
- Google detects a redirect or mismatch
- Google Ads rejects your landing page
This is normal behavior for landing pages, but Google needs one "official" URL to approve your ad.
The Fix: Add a Canonical URL Tag
A canonical tag tells Google: "Both URLs work, but treat this one as the official version."
Adding this tag removes redirect-related rejections from Google Ads.
How to Add the Canonical Tag
- Open your landing page and click Settings in the top right.
- Scroll down to SEO Meta Data.
- Find the Custom Head Tracking Code section.
- Paste this code:
<link rel="canonical" href="https://tours.yourchildcare.com/" /> - Replace
tours.yourchildcare.comwith your actual subdomain. - Click Save and publish your changes.
Example Scenarios
Example 1: Tour Booking Page
Default URL: tours.yourchildcare.com/schedule-tour
Canonical tag:
<link rel="canonical" href="https://tours.yourchildcare.com/" />
Example 2: Open House Registration
Default URL: openhouse.yourchildcare.com/register
Canonical tag:
<link rel="canonical" href="https://openhouse.yourchildcare.com/" />
Example 3: Enrollment Application
Default URL: enroll.yourchildcare.com/application
Canonical tag:
<link rel="canonical" href="https://enroll.yourchildcare.com/" />
What This Solves
- Removes redirect and mismatch warnings in Google Ads
- Prevents "final URL mismatch" rejections
- Ensures Google sees one stable version of your URL
- Avoids SEO duplicate-content issues
- Reduces indexing inconsistencies in search engines
When to Use This Fix
Use this solution if:
- Your landing page is hosted on a subdomain
- Google Ads rejects your landing page
- You notice an extra page path (like
/schedule-tour) - You want the root URL recognized as the main landing page
- Google Search Console reports duplicate URLs
Pro Tip: This change only affects how Google sees your page — it doesn't change anything for families visiting your landing page. They'll still see the same content regardless of which URL they use.
Important Notes
This fix doesn't change how your landing page behaves for visitors. It only tells Google and Google Ads which URL should be treated as the authoritative version.
This is the recommended solution for landing pages with multiple accessible URLs.
