Use scored quizzes to assess parent readiness, match families to programs, or create personalized onboarding experiences. This guide shows you how to assign scores to quiz answers, organize them into categories, and display custom result messages based on how families score.
When to Use Scored Quizzes
Scored quizzes work great for:
- Program matching: Help families discover which program fits their child best
- Readiness assessments: Evaluate if a family is ready for enrollment
- Parent personality types: Segment families based on their preferences and priorities
- Tour qualification: Score and prioritize which tour leads to follow up with first
How to Add Scoring to Your Quiz
Step 1: Create or Edit a Quiz
- Log into your Enrollio account
- Navigate to Sites → Quizzes
- Select an existing quiz or click + New Quiz
Step 2: Add Questions
- Click Add Question
- Choose your question type (Single Choice, Multiple Choice, Dropdown, etc.)
- Enter your question text and answer options
- For each answer, assign a score value based on its importance
Step 3: Create Score Categories
- Create categories that represent what you're measuring (for example: "Infant Care," "Toddler Program," "Preschool Readiness")
- Assign each answer to one or more categories
- The category popover explains how scoring works as you build — use it as a quick reference
How category scoring works:
- Single Choice/Dropdown: Only one answer can be selected, so it has a fixed maximum score
- Multiple Choice: Multiple answers can be selected, so the maximum score is the sum of all options
Step 4: Save and Preview
- Click Save Quiz
- Use the Preview option to test your quiz
- Verify that scores calculate correctly across all categories
Understanding How Scores Are Calculated
When a parent completes your quiz, Enrollio calculates their score using this formula:
Final Score = (Selected Score / Maximum Possible Score) × 100
This calculation happens separately for:
- Overall quiz score
- Each individual category
Example Calculation
Let's say you created a program matching quiz with three categories:
| Category | Score Earned | Maximum Score | Final Percentage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall | 90 | 130 | 69% |
| Infant Care | 20 | 50 | 40% |
| Toddler Program | 20 | 50 | 40% |
| Preschool | 10 | 50 | 20% |
In this example, the parent scored highest for Infant Care and Toddler Program — perfect information for your follow-up conversation.
How "Overall Only" Scoring Works
- If you assign an answer to Overall Only, it counts toward the total quiz score but not any specific category
- If you assign an answer to both a category and Overall, it counts in both places
- Each category calculates independently, but all category scores together make up the Overall score
Add Dynamic Result Messages
Show different messages based on score ranges. This is perfect for guiding families to next steps based on their results.
- Go to the Result Page in your quiz builder
- Define your score ranges (for example: Low 0–40%, Medium 41–70%, High 71–100%)
- Add a custom message for each range
- Optionally add a call-to-action button (schedule a tour, start application, etc.)
Example Messages for Parent Enrollment Quiz
- Low score (0–40%): "Let's explore which program might be the best fit for your family. Schedule a tour to learn more."
- Medium score (41–70%): "You're on the right track! Let's discuss your specific needs and find the perfect match."
- High score (71–100%): "Your family is a great fit for our program! Let's get started with enrollment."

- Dynamic Tags: Insert variables like {{quiz_tags.highest_category_name}} or {{quiz_tags.highest_category_score}}
- Content Editor: Add custom text, format fonts, include links

Footer Section
- Add closing text or legal disclaimers
- Include social media links

Advanced Option: Show Winning Categories Only
If you only want to display categories where the parent scored above a certain threshold, enable this option. This keeps results focused on the most relevant programs.
Best Practices
- Test thoroughly: Always preview your quiz and complete it yourself to verify scoring works correctly
- Keep categories clear: Use category names that make sense to parents ("Infant Care" not "Category A")
- Check your math: If category totals don't match your overall score, verify that answers assigned to "Overall Only" aren't accidentally affecting categories
- Use dynamic messaging: Tailor your result messages to each score range — make them actionable and specific
- Add clear CTAs: Every result page should guide families to the next step, whether that's scheduling a tour or starting an application
- Consider your follow-up: Quiz results automatically save to the family's profile, so your team can reference them during tours and enrollment conversations
