Build Your Enrollment Site from Scratch

Building your own enrollment site from scratch might feel overwhelming, but don't let the blank page stop you. Follow these steps to go from idea to published site in record time.

Table of Contents

Preparation & Planning

Before you log into Enrollio or drag your first element, take time to plan your site. This saves you significant time and results in a much more effective enrollment site.

Define Your Site's Purpose

What's your primary goal? Are you looking to generate tour bookings, showcase your program, build trust with prospective families, or answer common questions? Knowing this guides all your design and content decisions.

Who are you reaching? Understanding your prospective families' needs, preferences, and concerns helps you tailor your site's content and design to resonate with them.

Outline Your Content & Structure

What pages do you need? Most childcare sites start with Home, About Us, Programs, and Contact. You might need Tour Booking, Enrollment, Staff, or FAQ pages depending on your goals.

What's the key action on each page? Think about what you want visitors to do—book a tour, download your parent handbook, call your center, or start enrollment.

Gather your assets: Have your logo, brand colors, photos of your facility and staff, and written content ready before you start building.

Create a Simple Plan

Map out your site structure with a table like this:

Build the Home Page

  1. Click Create From Blank
  2. The Site Builder opens

Understand the Editor

The Site Builder has five key areas:

  • Control Panel (top): Controls what appears in the Left Panel—elements, pages, and metadata
  • Device Switcher (top): Switch between desktop and mobile views to test responsiveness
  • Meta Controls (top right): History, undo, preview, save, publish
  • Left Panel: Elements and settings for your page
  • Center Panel: Live editable preview of your page
  • Right Panel: Settings and styling options for the selected section, row, or element

Add Your First Section

  1. In the center panel (if empty) or by clicking the + (Add Element/Section) icon on the left sidebar, choose Sections
  2. Select a section width (example: Full Width)
[SCREENSHOT: Adding a new full-width section]

Add a Row

  1. Inside the new green-bordered section, drag to add a Row
  2. Select 1 Column

Add Headline and Sub-Headline

  1. In the 1 Column Row, click Add Element
  2. Headline: Drag a "Headline" element into the row
  3. Click the text to edit it (example: "Welcome to Little Stars Learning Center")
  4. Use the right panel to change font, size, color, and more
  5. Sub-Headline: Click + Add Element again
  6. Drag a "Sub-Headline" below the main headline
  7. Edit its text and style (example: "Where every child's potential shines bright")
[SCREENSHOT: Headline and sub-headline elements added to a row with right panel settings visible]

Add a Call-to-Action Button

  1. Under the sub-headline, add a Button element
  2. Edit the button text to something like "Book a Tour Today"
  3. In the button's settings (Right Panel), scroll down to Button Actions
  4. Select Call and input your phone number, or select Link to connect it to your tour booking page
Pro Tip: Your call-to-action button should be clear and specific. "Book a Tour" or "Schedule a Visit" performs better than generic "Learn More" buttons.

Continue Building

Repeat this process to add more sections, rows, and elements to build out your homepage. Consider adding:

  • An image or video showcasing your facility
  • Program highlights with icons or images
  • Testimonials from current families
  • Staff introduction section

Click Save frequently as you work.

Build Your Page

Add elements and content to the page using the same process you used for the home page. For an About Us page, you might add:

  • A text element describing your center's philosophy and history
  • Image elements showing your facility and staff
  • A section highlighting what makes your program unique

Click Save and then Back when finished.

Add Navigation

Now that you have multiple pages, add navigation so families can easily move between them.

  1. Navigate to Sites → Enrollment Sites → Site Details
  2. Under the "Home" page card, click Edit

Add Top Navigation Section

  1. At the very top of the page, above all other sections, add a new Full Width Section
  2. Inside the new section, add a 1 Column Row
  3. Add the Navigation Menu element
[SCREENSHOT: Navigation Menu element being added to top section]

Configure Navigation Menu

  1. Click to select the navigation menu
  2. In the right settings panel, verify each link goes to the correct page
  3. Upload your logo
  4. Adjust colors and styling to match your brand
[SCREENSHOT: Navigation Menu settings panel showing logo upload and link configuration]

Add Footer Section

  1. At the bottom of the page, under all other sections, add a new Full Width Section
  2. Open Elements → Prebuilt Elements → Footer
  3. Drag a footer into the bottom section

Customize Footer

  1. Select each element in the footer
  2. Edit settings in the Right Panel or delete elements you don't need
  3. Add your contact information, copyright notice, and links to important pages
  4. Click Save and Back
Pro Tip: Copy the navigation and footer sections from your home page to all other pages for consistency. This saves time and ensures families see the same navigation throughout your site.

Previewing, Settings & Publishing

Preview Your Site

Navigate to Sites → Enrollment Sites → Site Details and click the preview page button (box with arrow icon). Or if you're in the page builder, click the preview button (eyeball icon).

Check Mobile Responsiveness

In the page builder: Click the mobile phone icon to switch between desktop and mobile views.

In the preview: Right-click and select "Inspect," then in the inspector panel click the desktop/mobile icon.

Adjust for Responsiveness

In the page editor, adjust elements and settings until everything looks good on both desktop and mobile. If you can't get one element looking the way you want, you can duplicate it and in advanced settings make one element visible on desktop and the other visible on mobile.

Pro Tip: Over 60% of prospective families will view your site on mobile. Always check mobile responsiveness before publishing.

Save and Publish

You should save frequently while building. When you're completely finished and happy with your site, click Save and Publish one final time.

Set Up SEO Meta Data

  1. In the page builder, click the SEO icon to open the SEO Meta Data panel
  2. Edit SEO details for each page:
    • Page Title: Include your center name and key terms (example: "Programs | Little Stars Learning Center")
    • Meta Description: Brief, compelling description that appears in search results
    • Favicon: Small icon that appears in browser tabs

Connect a Custom Domain (Optional)

If you have a custom domain (like www.yourlittlestars.com), you can connect it to your Enrollio site. This gives your enrollment site a professional web address that matches your branding.

Your site is now live and ready to help families learn about your program and book tours!
