Register Your Phone Numbers for A2P 10DLC to Avoid Higher Messaging Fees
If you're sending text messages to U.S. parents and families from a 10-digit phone number, you need to register those numbers through Enrollio's Trust Center. Unregistered numbers face significantly higher per-message fees and risk being blocked by carriers.
What You Need to Know
U.S. carriers require all business text messaging to use registered phone numbers. AT&T and T-Mobile have increased fees on unregistered traffic to encourage registration, and unregistered numbers may be filtered or blocked entirely.
Most childcare centers see better message delivery and lower costs after registering their numbers.
Current Unregistered Message Fees
| Carrier | Message Type | Unregistered Fee Per Message |
|---|---|---|
| AT&T | SMS | $0.01 |
| AT&T | MMS | $0.015 |
| T-Mobile | SMS | $0.006 |
| T-Mobile | MMS | $0.015 |
These fees apply to every text message sent from an unregistered number — they add up quickly when you're communicating with families daily.
Why This Matters for Your Center
Carriers created these requirements to protect consumers from spam and unwanted messages. Registered businesses get better delivery rates and lower costs, while unregistered senders face penalties.
For childcare centers, reliable text delivery is critical for enrollment confirmations, parent updates, tour reminders, and daily communications.
How to Register Your Phone Numbers
Step 1: Go to Settings → Phone Numbers in your Enrollio dashboard

Alternative: Toll-Free Numbers
Instead of 10-digit local numbers, you can use toll-free numbers (like 800, 888, 877). Some centers find toll-free registration simpler and more cost-effective.
Toll-free numbers also require registration, but the process is often faster. To register a toll-free number, follow the same steps in Trust Center and select "Toll-Free" as your number type.
What Happens If You Don't Register
Unregistered numbers will continue to work, but you'll pay the higher carrier fees shown above for every message. More importantly, carriers may start filtering or blocking your messages, meaning families won't receive your texts about tours, enrollments, or updates.
Registration protects your ability to communicate with families and keeps your messaging costs predictable.
