A2P Campaign Registration: Step-by-Step Guide for Text Messaging Compliance

Need help registering your A2P 10DLC Campaign? This guide walks you through the 2023 registration process to keep your text messaging compliant and deliverable to families.

What is A2P 10DLC?
A2P (Application-to-Person) 10DLC refers to the 10-digit phone numbers used by businesses to send text messages at scale. Registering your campaigns ensures carriers recognize your messages as legitimate business communications, not spam.

Important: What Happens After Brand Approval

Once your Brand registration is approved, Enrollio automatically submits your Campaign for review. You don't need to manually submit it — this happens for both Standard and Sole Proprietor registration types.

However, you do need to complete the Campaign registration form with all required details before your number can send messages to families.

Your Next Steps

  1. Go to Trust Centre >> A2P Wizard in your Enrollio dashboard
  2. Click Create Campaign
  3. Complete the Campaign registration form (details below)
  4. Wait for Campaign approval before texting families

Note on Fees: A2P registration fees, monthly campaign fees, and carrier per-message charges are passthrough costs with no Enrollio markup. Current fee information is available in your Trust Centre.

Campaign Details: What You Need to Provide

The Campaign Details page has two main sections you'll need to complete:

  • Messaging Use Case — What you're texting about and why
  • User Consent — How families agree to receive your messages
[SCREENSHOT: Campaign Details form showing both sections in Enrollio interface]

Section 1: Messaging Use Case

This section tells carriers exactly what kinds of messages you'll send to families. You'll need to provide two things:

  1. Use Case Description
  2. Sample Messages (2 examples)

1.1 Use Case Description

Describe the purpose of your text messages in plain language. What will you text about? Who will receive them? Keep it simple and specific.

What to include:

  • Type of messages you'll send (enrollment reminders, tour confirmations, program updates, etc.)
  • Who receives them (prospective families, enrolled families, waitlist families)
  • How they opt in (website form, in-person signup, etc.)
Pro Tip: Click "See example" in the top right of the form to view sample descriptions for your use case. Don't list every possible message type — stick to your primary use cases. If you list multiple use cases, you'll need to provide opt-in documentation for each one.

Example 1 — Tour and Enrollment Messages:

"This campaign sends tour confirmations, enrollment updates, and program notifications to prospective and enrolled families who have opted in to receive text messages via our website enrollment form."

Example 2 — Marketing and Promotional Messages:

"This campaign targets families who have opted in to receive updates about our childcare programs via our website subscription form. Messages include open enrollment announcements, program updates, and special enrollment offers. Families can opt out anytime by replying STOP."

Using a DBA (Doing Business As) Name:
If your legal business name differs from your center's brand name, add this sentence to your Use Case Description: "We are doing business as [Your Center Name]." Make sure your website, privacy policy, terms, and opt-in forms all reference this DBA name consistently.

You can register the same EIN for up to 10 different brands or center locations.

1.2 Sample Messages

Provide two realistic examples of messages you'll send. These samples show carriers your messaging style and confirm you're following regulations.

Every sample message must include:

  • A family's first name (use a realistic example, not a placeholder)
  • A staff member's name
  • Your center's name
  • Opt-out language ("Reply STOP to unsubscribe")

Example 1 — Non-Marketing (Tour Confirmation):

"Hi Sarah, it's Jennifer from Bright Beginnings Academy. Thanks for opting in to receive text notifications! I've confirmed your tour for Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 10:00 AM. Looking forward to meeting your family! If anything changes, just let me know. Reply STOP to opt out."

Example 2 — Marketing (Enrollment Promotion):

"Hi Sarah, it's Jennifer from Bright Beginnings Academy. Thanks for opting in! We have a few spots opening up in our preschool program for fall enrollment. Would you like to schedule a tour? Reply STOP to opt out."
Do NOT Use:
  • Placeholder text like "[Your Center Name]" or "[insert name here]"
  • Custom field variables like {{contact_name}}
  • Generic business references like "the center" or "our facility"
Rejected Example:
"Hey {{name}}! This is [staff name] from [write your center name here]. We remember you signed up for a tour a while back. When can we get you rescheduled? Reply STOP to opt out."

Section 2: User Consent

You must prove that families clearly and willingly agreed to receive your messages. Carriers require specific documentation of how consent was obtained.

Your consent process must clearly communicate:

  • What type of messages families will receive
  • How often they'll receive messages
  • That standard message and data rates may apply
  • How to opt out (reply STOP)
Critical Requirements:
  • Use your actual center name — not "[company name]" or generic placeholders
  • Use your own phone number — never use demo or sample numbers
  • Use your own website URL and opt-in forms

2.1 How Families Consent to Receive Messages

There are several ways families can opt in to your text messages:

  • Website Forms — Enrollment forms, tour request forms, waitlist signups
  • Text Message Opt-In — Keyword-based opt-in (e.g., "Text START to [your number]")
  • In-Person or Paper Forms — Physical forms at your center
  • Verbal Consent — Phone or in-person conversations

You'll need to provide proof based on your method:

  • Website: Provide the URL where families opt in
  • Keyword: Provide an image showing how the keyword is advertised with all required disclaimers
  • Paper form: Provide a photo of the form showing disclaimers and phone number field
  • Verbal: Provide the script including all required disclosures

2.2 Consent Checkbox

If you collect consent via website forms, your phone number field should be mandatory, and you need separate, clear consent checkboxes.

Best practice: Use separate checkboxes for different message types:

  • One for transactional messages (tour confirmations, enrollment updates)
  • One for marketing messages (promotions, program announcements)

Example consent language:

☐ I agree to receive text messages from [Your Center Name] about my tour, enrollment status, and program updates. I understand that message and data rates may apply and I can opt out anytime by replying STOP.
☐ I agree to receive promotional messages and special offers from [Your Center Name] via text message. I understand that message and data rates may apply and I can opt out anytime by replying STOP.

2.3 Privacy Policy

You must have a published privacy policy that explains how you collect, use, and protect family contact information. Provide the direct URL to this page.

Your privacy policy should mention:

  • How you collect phone numbers
  • How you use text messages to communicate
  • How families can opt out
  • How you protect their information

2.4 Terms of Service

Your terms of service should outline the rules and expectations for using your text message communication. Provide the direct URL to this page.

2.5 Opt-in Message

When a family first opts in, send an immediate confirmation message that:

  • Thanks them for opting in
  • Confirms what types of messages they'll receive
  • Reminds them how to opt out (reply STOP)
  • Includes your center name

Example opt-in confirmation:

"Thanks for signing up for text updates from Bright Beginnings Academy! You'll receive tour reminders, enrollment updates, and program notifications. Reply STOP anytime to opt out. Message and data rates may apply."

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does Campaign approval take?

Campaign approval typically takes 3-5 business days after submission. You'll receive email notification when your campaign is approved or if additional information is needed.

Can I use one campaign for multiple centers?

If you operate multiple locations under the same brand and EIN, you can use one campaign. If your centers operate as separate brands, you should register separate campaigns for each.

What happens if my campaign is rejected?

You'll receive specific feedback about what needs to be corrected. Common issues include incomplete sample messages, missing opt-in documentation, or unclear use case descriptions. Simply update the required information and resubmit.

Can I change my campaign details after approval?

Minor updates may not require re-approval, but significant changes to your use case or messaging purpose will trigger a new review. Make changes through your Trust Centre.

Do I need separate campaigns for marketing vs. transactional messages?

Not necessarily. If your use case description covers both types and you have proper consent documentation for each, you can include both in one campaign. However, you must have separate consent checkboxes on your forms.

What if I don't have a privacy policy or terms of service?

These are required for A2P registration. You'll need to create and publish these documents on your website before completing your campaign registration. Enrollio can provide templates to help you get started.
