What Changed in the New Blog System

We've rebuilt the blog system from the ground up to make it easier for childcare centers to share updates, tips, and news with families. The new system includes cleaner URLs, better SEO, and more design flexibility.

1. Simpler URLs

Your blog URLs are now cleaner and more professional. Instead of complex paths, you get straightforward URLs like:

  • Blog home: yoursite.com/blog
  • Blog posts: yoursite.com/post/your-post-name
  • Categories: yoursite.com/blog/category/category-name
  • Tags: yoursite.com/blog/tag/tag-name
  • Author pages: yoursite.com/blog/author/author-name

If you're using a subdomain like blog.yoursite.com, the structure is even simpler — blog.yoursite.com/post/your-post-name.

2. Automatic Sitemap Updates

Every time you publish a blog post, your sitemap updates automatically. You don't need to manually update sitemaps or robot.txt files anymore — it all happens behind the scenes.

3. Individual Post Pages

Each blog post now opens on its own dedicated page with full customization options. Add subscription forms, comment sections, calendars, or custom text to match your center's brand.

4. Better SEO with Canonical Tags

Canonical tags help Google understand which version of your page to index and show in search results. This consolidates your ranking strength and prevents duplicate content issues.

5. Flexible Layouts and Designs

Customize how your blog posts appear in card view. Choose what information to display and design layouts that match your enrollment site's look and feel.

What Happens to Your Old Blog Posts?

Your existing blog posts remain functional and visible. However, they won't benefit from the new features like simplified URLs, canonical tags, or automatic sitemap updates.

All your old blog posts are now grouped under a "Default Blog" category. While they still work, we recommend migrating them to the new system to take advantage of improved SEO and cleaner URLs.

Important: New client accounts created after this update automatically use the new blog system.

How to Migrate Your Blog Posts

Moving your blog posts to the new system takes just a few minutes. Here's how:

  1. Click Sites in your navigation menu, then select Blogs
  2. You'll see a "Default Blog" option that contains all your existing blog posts from enrollment pages and sites
  3. Open the Default Blog to view all your blog posts
  4. Check the boxes next to the blog posts you want to migrate
  5. Click Move Blog to transfer the selected posts to the new system
⚠️ Important: When you migrate a post, its old URL will stop working and update to the new URL structure. Make sure to update any links you've shared with families or posted on social media.

Optional: Update Your Blog List Elements

If you added a blog list element to any of your enrollment pages or landing pages, you'll need to update it to display posts from the new blog:

  1. Open the enrollment page or landing page that contains your blog list
  2. Select the blog list element
  3. Choose the new blog from the dropdown menu
  4. Click Publish to save your changes

Pro Tip: Migrate your most popular blog posts first. Check your analytics to see which posts get the most traffic from families, then prioritize moving those to take advantage of the improved SEO.

Why Migrate Now?

The new blog system gives your childcare center:

  • Better search rankings: Clean URLs and canonical tags help Google understand and rank your content
  • Professional appearance: Simpler URLs look more trustworthy when you share posts with families
  • Time savings: No more manual sitemap updates every time you publish
  • More flexibility: Customize each post page with forms, schedules, and branded elements
