You can collect payment for both one-time fees and recurring tuition directly on your enrollment forms in Enrollio. This gives prospective families a seamless way to pay registration fees, secure their spot, or start tuition payments immediately.

This article covers how to set up products on enrollment forms, which payment providers work with different features, and a few important limitations to keep in mind.

Supported Payment Providers

Enrollio integrates with several payment providers for collecting payments on forms:

  • Stripe
  • Authorize.net
  • NMI
  • PayPal
  • Square
  • Custom Payment Providers (installed from the Marketplace)

Ways to Sell Products on Enrollment Forms

You have three options for presenting products to families during checkout:

Primary Products

This is the main product you're selling — typically your registration fee, first month's tuition, or enrollment package. Every form needs at least one primary product.

Bump Products

These are optional add-ons that families can check off while purchasing your primary product. Think of these as extras like extended care, meal plans, or supply fees that families can opt into with a single click.

Upsells

After a family completes their purchase, you can immediately offer an additional product or service with one click — no re-entering payment info. This works well for offering sibling discounts, summer camp enrollment, or other programs.

Important Payment Limitations

Keep these rules in mind when setting up your enrollment forms:

Apple Pay and Google Pay

These payment methods only work with Stripe. To enable Apple Pay, turn on the toggle in your Stripe connection card under Payments → Integrations. Google Pay displays automatically for eligible buyers when you're connected to Stripe.

Recurring Products

You can't sell two different recurring products in a single checkout with any payment provider. For example, you can't have a family purchase both monthly tuition and a monthly extended care plan in one transaction.

Workaround: Use upsells to offer a second recurring product after the first purchase completes. This keeps everything in one enrollment flow while respecting the payment provider limitation.

PayPal Restrictions

PayPal doesn't support bump products when the primary product is recurring. If you're collecting recurring tuition payments through PayPal, you won't be able to offer bump add-ons on that form.

Configuring Recurring Products

When you create a recurring product (like monthly tuition) under Payments → Products, you can configure:

  • Setup fees (one-time charges before recurring payments begin)
  • Trial periods (free or reduced-rate periods before full tuition starts)
  • Number of payments (useful for fixed-term programs)

These settings automatically apply when a family purchases that product on any enrollment form.

Trial Periods and Initial Charges

Here's something important about trial periods: If a product has a trial period but no setup fee, the initial order will show $0 due. The family won't be charged anything when they submit the form — charges begin when the trial period ends.

If you want to collect payment upfront even with a trial period, add a setup fee to your product.

Managing Payments After Enrollment

Once families start enrolling and paying, you can track everything in your Payments section:

  • Payments → Orders: View all one-time payments and initial enrollments
  • Payments → Subscriptions: Manage recurring tuition and ongoing payments
  • Payments → Transactions: Process refunds and view detailed transaction history

Pro Tip: Payment Method Display

When you connect Stripe, families will see payment options based on what you've enabled and what's available in their region:

  • Credit/debit card (always available)
  • Apple Pay (if enabled and family uses Safari/iOS)
  • Google Pay (if eligible in their country)
  • ACH Direct Debit (for bank transfers)
  • Buy Now, Pay Later options like Affirm, Klarna, or Afterpay (if enabled)

Different payment providers support different methods, so choose your provider based on how you want families to pay.
