You can connect a Stripe card reader to the Enrollio mobile app and accept in-person payments when families pay for enrollment fees, tuition, or activities. Parents can tap, insert, or swipe their cards directly on the terminal — no need to manually enter card details.

Supported Card Readers

Enrollio supports these Stripe terminals:

  • Stripe M2 reader
  • BBPOS WisePad 3

These readers are sold directly by Stripe and connect to your mobile device via Bluetooth.

How to Connect Your Card Reader

Before you start, make sure your card reader is charged to at least 25% battery and powered on.

  1. Open the Enrollio mobile app on your device
  2. Tap the Navigation menu (☰) then tap Settings (gear icon)
  3. Tap Payment Devices
  4. If this is your first time connecting a reader, the pairing screen will open automatically. If you've connected devices before, they'll appear under "My devices."
  5. Your card reader should appear on the pairing screen — tap Connect
  6. The app will check for updates and install them automatically. This may take a minute or two.
  7. Once pairing is complete, your reader is ready to accept payments

How to Accept a Payment

Once your reader is connected, you can accept payments in two places:

From Point of Sale (POS)

  1. Open the POS tab in the mobile app
  2. Add items or services to the cart
  3. On the payment screen, tap the Pay with Hardware tile
  4. Your card reader will prompt the parent to tap, insert, or swipe their card
  5. The transaction completes automatically once the card is processed

From Invoices

  1. Open an invoice that's ready for payment
  2. Tap the payment option
  3. Select Pay with Hardware
  4. Your card reader will activate and prompt for the card
Pro Tip: Keep your card reader charged and nearby during busy enrollment periods or parent pickup/dropoff times. This makes it easy to collect payments on the spot when parents are already at your center.

Troubleshooting

If your reader isn't showing up:

  • Check that Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device
  • Make sure the reader is powered on and charged above 25%
  • Move closer to the reader — Bluetooth range is typically 30 feet or less
  • Restart both your mobile device and the card reader

If updates are taking a long time, keep the reader near your phone and connected to a charger. Some firmware updates can take 5-10 minutes.
