Adding PayPal Buttons to Payment Forms

Enrollio's payment system now supports PayPal and PayLater, giving families more ways to pay for enrollment fees, tuition, and other childcare expenses. This integration works across forms, invoices, payment links, and enrollment pages.

What is PayPal Integration?

PayPal integration adds PayPal and PayLater payment buttons to your payment forms. Families can choose to pay with their PayPal account instead of entering card details, making the payment process faster and more convenient.

Benefits of Offering PayPal

  • More payment choices: Let families pay the way they prefer, whether that's PayPal, PayLater, or credit card
  • Faster checkout: Families with PayPal accounts can complete payment in seconds
  • Increased trust: Many parents already trust PayPal and feel comfortable using it
  • Simple setup: Add PayPal to your existing payment process with minimal changes
  • International families: PayPal works worldwide, making it easier for international families to enroll

Where PayPal Works in Enrollio

  • Enrollment Pages: Accept PayPal on your enrollment forms and landing pages
  • Forms & Surveys: Collect registration fees and deposits through forms with PayPal buttons
  • Invoices: Let families pay invoices directly through PayPal
  • Payment Links: Send payment links that include PayPal as an option

How to Enable PayPal

Pro Tip: Don't have your PayPal credentials yet? Log into your PayPal developer account, go to "My Apps & Credentials," and create a new app to get your Client ID and Secret Key.

Step 2: Add or Update Payment Elements

If you're creating a new payment form, simply add the payment element and PayPal will appear automatically.

If you already have payment forms set up, you'll need to update them to show PayPal buttons:

  • For Forms & Surveys: Add the "Collect Payment" element to enable PayPal during checkout
  • For Enrollment Pages: Use the 1-Step or 2-Step Order Form elements — these support PayPal automatically

Important: If you added order forms before November 1st, 2024, delete them and re-add them to ensure PayPal compatibility.

Step 3: Preview Your Payment Form

PayPal buttons only appear when you preview or publish your form — you won't see them in the builder itself.

Click Preview to see how families will experience the PayPal option at checkout.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get my PayPal Client ID and Secret Key?

Log into your PayPal developer account at developer.paypal.com. Navigate to "My Apps & Credentials" and create a new app. Your Client ID and Secret Key will be displayed there.

Can I offer both PayPal and credit card payments?

Yes! If you have multiple payment providers connected (like Stripe and PayPal), families will see all available options and can choose their preferred method.

Is PayLater available for all payments?

PayLater availability is determined by PayPal based on the transaction amount and the family's eligibility. This isn't something you configure in Enrollio — PayPal handles it automatically.

Do I need to update existing payment forms?

Yes. To show PayPal buttons, you need to update your payment elements to the latest version. For older order forms (added before November 2024), delete and re-add them to ensure compatibility.

Pro Tip: Test your payment forms after enabling PayPal by making a small test transaction. This ensures everything works smoothly before families start using it.
