Add-ons for Appointments
Add-ons are optional extras that families can select when booking appointments with your center. They help you offer personalized service options—like extended hours, special activities, or additional resources—while increasing revenue at the point of booking.
This article shows you how to create, assign, and manage add-ons for your appointment types.
What are Add-ons?
Add-ons let you offer supplementary services or upgrades that families can choose during the booking process. They appear as optional selections that can adjust the total price and duration of an appointment.
Childcare examples:
- Extended care hours after regular pickup time
- Tour with classroom observation (adds 15 minutes)
- Parent handbook or welcome kit
- Meet-and-greet with specific staff members
- Virtual tour upgrade for remote families
Add-ons give families control over their experience while helping your center capture additional revenue without extra follow-up.
Key Benefits of Add-ons
- Increase Revenue: Offer upgrades at booking so families can purchase extras immediately
- Personalized Appointments: Families choose what matters to them, creating a better fit for their needs
- Clear Pricing: Total cost updates automatically based on selections and quantities
- Relevant Options: Add-ons appear only on the appointments you assign them to
- Reusable Setup: Create once and assign to multiple appointment types as needed
Where to Create Add-ons
You can create add-ons in two places:
- From the Add-ons Tab: Access all add-ons across your center in one central list
- From an Appointment Type: Add-ons created here are automatically assigned to that specific appointment
How to Create Add-ons
Set up your add-ons with the right details so they display correctly during booking.
Step 1: Navigate to Add-ons
- Go to Calendar > Calendar Settings > Services
- Click the Add-ons tab in the navigation
- Click + New Add-on in the upper right corner

Step 2: Fill in Add-on Details
Complete these fields to configure your add-on:
- Add-on Image: Upload a visual representation (optional but recommended). Upload from your computer or select from your Media Library.
- Name: Enter a clear, descriptive name like "Extended Care Hour" or "Parent Welcome Kit"
- Price: Set the cost for this add-on
- Duration: Check this box if the add-on extends the appointment time. When enabled, this duration is added to the base appointment length.
- Maximum Quantity: Define how many units a family can select per booking
- Multiply Price with Quantity: When enabled, the price multiplies by quantity selected (e.g., $15 × 2 = $30)
- Description: Explain what the add-on includes and why it's valuable
- Hide from Booking Page: Enable this to keep the add-on internal—only your staff can apply it during manual booking

Step 3: Save Your Add-on
Click Create Add-on to save. Your add-on is now created but not yet assigned to any appointments.
Assigning Add-ons to Appointments
Creating an add-on doesn't automatically make it available. You need to assign it to each appointment type where you want families to see it.
- Add-ons can be assigned to one or multiple appointment types
- They only appear on booking pages for appointments they're linked to
- Families see them as optional extras during the booking process
Step 1: Open Appointment Editor
- Go to Calendar > Calendar Settings > Services
- Find the appointment type you want to edit
- Click the three-dot menu (⋮) and select Edit
[SCREENSHOT: Services list with three-dot menu open showing Edit option]
Step 2: Navigate to Add-ons
- Click the Add-ons tab in the left sidebar
- Click + Add-ons

Step 3: Select and Save
- Check the box next to each add-on you want to include
- Create a new add-on from here if needed
- Click Save to apply your changes
Your selected add-ons now appear when families book this appointment type.
Editing or Deleting Add-ons
Keep your add-ons current by updating pricing, descriptions, or removing options you no longer offer.
Step 1: Open Add-ons Page
- Go to Calendar > Calendar Settings > Services
- Click the Add-ons tab
Step 2: Edit or Delete
You'll see a list of all your add-ons:
- Click the Edit (pencil icon) to open the editor
- Click Delete (trash icon) to remove the add-on permanently

Step 3: Save Your Changes
If editing, update the information and click Save Changes.
Best Practices
- Use clear names and images so families instantly understand what they're selecting
- Set maximum quantities for physical items like welcome kits or limited resources
- Bundle popular add-ons with relevant appointment types to increase upsells (e.g., offer classroom observation with initial tours)
- Use hidden add-ons for internal adjustments or staff-only options that shouldn't appear on the public booking page
- Keep descriptions benefit-focused — explain what families gain, not just what's included
- Review pricing regularly to ensure add-ons remain profitable and competitive
Frequently Asked Questions
Do add-ons automatically appear for all appointment types?
No. You must manually assign each add-on to the specific appointment types where you want it available. This keeps options relevant for families.
Will an add-on's duration change the total appointment time?
Yes. When you enable the Duration setting for an add-on, that time is added to the base appointment length. This ensures your schedule accounts for the extended service.
Can I offer the same add-on at different prices for different appointments?
Not directly. Each add-on has one price. If you need different pricing, create separate add-ons (e.g., "Extended Care - Morning" and "Extended Care - Afternoon").
What happens if I delete an add-on that families already purchased?
Past appointments keep the add-on information, but it won't be available for new bookings. Check your existing appointments before deleting active add-ons.
Can families see add-ons before selecting an appointment time?
Add-ons appear after families select their date and time, during the booking details step. They see options, descriptions, and pricing before confirming.
