What is Parent Timezone Selection?

When parents book a tour or appointment through your calendar, they can choose their own timezone. This ensures the appointment time makes sense for their schedule, not just yours.

Here's how it works:

A parent in New York schedules a 5pm tour with your center in San Francisco. If parent timezone selection is disabled, the tour books at 5pm Pacific (your center's time). If it's enabled, the tour books at 5pm Eastern (the parent's time), and you'll see it on your calendar at 2pm Pacific.

Why Would I Disable This Feature?

Most childcare centers should keep this feature enabled. But you might want to disable it if:

  • Your center is near a timezone border and you want all appointments in your local time
  • You serve a tourist area where out-of-town families visit, but tours must happen in your timezone
  • You want to simplify scheduling and avoid timezone confusion

Pro Tip: If you disable this feature, make sure your account timezone is set correctly — all appointments will use that timezone by default.

How to Disable Parent Timezone Selection

Follow these steps to remove the timezone selector from your booking calendar:

  1. Click Settings in your left sidebar
  2. Select Business Profile
  3. Scroll to the General section on the right side
  4. Check the box next to "Disable Contact Timezone"
  5. Click Save

Set Your Center's Timezone

Your account timezone is critical, especially when parent timezone selection is disabled. Here's how to verify it's correct:

  1. Go to Settings → Business Profile
  2. Find the Time Zone field on the right side, below your physical address
  3. Select your center's timezone from the dropdown
  4. Click Save

What Parents Will See

Your calendar will look different depending on whether this feature is enabled or disabled.

Timezone Selection Disabled

When you disable parent timezone selection, the timezone dropdown disappears from your booking calendar. Parents will see available times in your center's timezone only.

Timezone Selection Enabled (Default)

This is the default setting. Parents see a timezone dropdown at the top of the calendar and can choose their preferred timezone when booking.

Pro Tip: If you serve families who frequently travel or relocate, keeping timezone selection enabled creates a better booking experience.
