Adding Tags to Multiple Families at Once
This article shows you how to quickly apply tags to multiple families using the bulk tagging feature. Whether you're organizing prospective families by enrollment stage, segmenting parents for campaigns, or flagging contacts for follow-up, bulk tagging saves you hours of manual work.
We'll walk you through what tags are, why they matter, and exactly how to use them in just a few clicks.
What Are Bulk Tags?
Bulk tagging lets you label and organize large groups of families efficiently. Tags help you categorize families based on shared traits, behaviors, or stages in the enrollment journey — like "Tour Scheduled," "Waitlist - Infant," or "Sibling Discount."
This feature is essential for segmenting your audience, triggering automations, and keeping your parent database organized at scale.
Why Bulk Tagging Matters
Bulk tagging is one of the most powerful time-savers in Enrollio. Here's what it helps you do:
- Save time by tagging dozens or hundreds of families in one action
- Improve targeting for emails, texts, and campaigns
- Trigger automations based on specific tag conditions
- Track progress through enrollment stages or campaigns
- Keep records clean and easy to search
- Enhance reporting by grouping relevant families together

Can I apply multiple tags at once to a family?
Yes. You can select and apply multiple tags simultaneously in a single bulk action. Just add all the tags you want in the Tags field before clicking Add Tags.
Will this overwrite existing tags on the family?
No. Adding tags in bulk only adds the selected tags to each family's existing tag list. It won't remove any tags that are already there.
Can I use tags to trigger automations?
Absolutely. Tags are one of the most common ways to trigger automations in Enrollio. You can launch sequences when a tag is applied or removed — perfect for things like tour reminders, waitlist updates, or enrollment follow-ups.
How do I undo or remove tags applied in bulk?
To remove tags from families, use the "Remove Tag" bulk action. You can either remove specific tags or clear all tags from selected families. This is covered in a separate article.
Can I see which families were successfully tagged?
Yes. Go to the Bulk Actions tab and click Show Stats beside the relevant action. This view shows the success status, family identifiers, and timestamps for each tagged record.
