This glossary defines common terms and features you'll encounter in Enrollio. Use it alongside our other help articles to get the most out of your childcare enrollment platform.

A

A2P 10DLC

Application-to-Person (A2P) messaging via standard 10-digit long codes. This is the messaging technology that powers Enrollio's text messaging features, ensuring reliable delivery to parents and families.

A Record

An A record maps your domain name to the physical IP address of the server hosting it. This DNS setting helps direct internet traffic to your enrollment site. The value is always an IP address, and you can configure multiple A records for one domain.

API (Application Programming Interface)

A way for different software platforms to communicate with each other. Enrollio uses APIs to connect with services like Mailgun for email delivery and payment processors for tuition collection.

API Key

A secure code that lets two platforms connect without requiring you to log in repeatedly. You'll need API keys when setting up email delivery through Mailgun or connecting payment processors to Enrollio.

Automation

A series of actions triggered by a specific event. For example, when a parent books a tour, an automation can send a confirmation email, add them to a follow-up sequence, and create a task for your staff—all automatically. This saves time on repetitive tasks so you can focus on families.

B

B2B (Business-to-Business)

Business transactions between companies, not applicable to most childcare centers.

B2C (Business-to-Consumer)

Business transactions directly with customers—in childcare, this means working directly with parents and families.

Bulk Actions

A way to perform the same action on multiple families at once. For example, you can tag multiple families as "Summer Camp Interested" or send a broadcast message to your entire waitlist.

BYOC (Bring Your Own Channel)

The option to use your own phone numbers and messaging services with Enrollio instead of purchasing through the platform.

C

Calendar

Enrollio's built-in booking system for scheduling tours, parent meetings, and enrollment appointments. Parents can book directly from your enrollment site without phone tag or back-and-forth emails.

Calendar: Appointments Per Day

The maximum number of appointments your calendar will accept in a single day. Even if you have 20 available time slots, you can limit bookings to 8 tours per day to avoid overwhelming your staff.

Calendar: Appointments Per Slot

How many families can book the same time slot. Usually set to 1, but increase this for group events like open houses or parent orientations.

Calendar: Buffer Duration

Time added between appointments to give your staff breathing room. If tours are 30 minutes with a 15-minute buffer, the next available slot is 45 minutes later.

Calendar: Date Range

How far in advance families can book appointments. Set this to 30 days if you don't want parents scheduling tours more than a month out.

Calendar: Minimum Scheduling Notice

The shortest advance notice required for bookings. Set a 24-hour minimum to prevent last-minute tour requests when you're already fully scheduled.

Calendar: Slot Duration

The length of each appointment. Tours might be 30 minutes, while enrollment meetings could be 60 minutes.

Calendar: Slot Interval

How frequently appointment slots appear. With a 30-minute slot duration and 15-minute interval, available times would be 9:00, 9:15, 9:30, etc.

Campaign

An organized effort to promote your childcare program, often involving multiple channels like email, text messages, and social media.

Chat Widget

A pop-up on your enrollment site that collects visitor information and starts a conversation. When a parent asks about availability, their info is captured in Enrollio for follow-up via phone, email, or text.

Client Account

If you're a consultant or agency managing Enrollio for multiple childcare centers, each center is a separate client account with its own families, staff, and settings.

CNAME Record

A DNS record that maps one domain name to another. Used when setting up custom domains for your enrollment pages, like enroll.yourdaycare.com.

Contact

See Parent/Family.

Conversations

The unified inbox where all communication with families appears—emails, text messages, and chat widget messages—all in one place per family.

Conversion

When a prospective family takes a desired action, like booking a tour or submitting an enrollment application. Your conversion rate is the percentage of website visitors who take this action.

CSS (Cascading Style Sheets)

Code that controls how your enrollment pages and sites look—colors, fonts, spacing, and layout.

CSV (Comma-Separated Values)

A simple file format for importing or exporting data. You can export your parent list as a CSV to use in other programs, or import families from a CSV into Enrollio.

Custom CSS

Advanced styling code you can add to customize the appearance of your enrollment pages beyond the standard options. Requires some web design knowledge.

Domain

Your web address, like happykidsacademy.com. You can connect your domain to Enrollio for custom enrollment pages and email addresses.

A complete website built in Enrollio to showcase your childcare program and accept enrollments online. More comprehensive than a single enrollment page.

Form: Sticky Contact

A setting that keeps form fields filled if the same parent visits again, saving them from re-entering their information.

FTP (File Transfer Protocol)

A method for uploading files to servers. Rarely needed in Enrollio as most file management happens through the dashboard.

G

Formerly Google My Business (GMB). Your center's listing on Google Maps and Search. While Enrollio doesn't manage this directly, you can track reviews and link to it from your enrollment pages.

The code that structures web pages. Enrollio's page builder handles this automatically, but advanced users can edit HTML directly for custom designs.
