Common Reasons for Failed Registrations
Most A2P and Toll-Free registration failures happen for these reasons:
- Missing or incomplete opt-in information
- Forbidden use cases
- Not updating example messages with your actual center information
- Inaccurate company information
- Broken or inactive website links
For additional A2P registration failure reasons, see this resource.
For additional Toll-Free registration failure reasons, see this resource.
How to Fix Each Rejection Reason
Let's walk through each common rejection reason and how to resolve it.
Opt-In Information Provided
Your enrollment site must have a proper opt-in process for parents to consent to receiving text messages from your center. Here's what you need:
Live Site Requirement
You need a live, operational enrollment site where families can opt in to receive messages from you.
[SCREENSHOT: Example of Enrollio enrollment page with opt-in form visible]Site Footer
Your enrollment site must include links to your Terms of Service (also called Terms of Use) and Privacy Policy in the footer of all pages, including your home page.

Families must fill out a form that includes:
- A checkbox for Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy with working links to both documents
- A checkbox to consent to receiving text messages from your center
- Clear instructions on how to opt out
This form can be for account creation, tour scheduling, waitlist sign-up, or anything else related to enrolling at your center. What matters is that families have a clear way to opt in to receive messages from you.
Example Checkbox Verbiage
For consent to message and Terms of Service/Privacy Policy:
✅ I agree to Terms of Service and Privacy Policy provided by [YOUR CENTER NAME].
✅ I agree to receive messaging from [YOUR CENTER NAME] at the phone number provided above. I understand I will receive messages as needed, data rates may apply, reply STOP to opt out.
Optional Promotional Checkbox
If you plan to send promotional messages (like special events, discounts, or center news), add an optional checkbox. This must not be required—make it truly optional.
You can add this as a custom field checkbox in your forms. See how below.
✅ I want to receive news, updates, and special offers from [YOUR CENTER NAME]. (Optional)
Forbidden Use Cases
Some business types cannot register for A2P texting due to compliance laws. While most childcare centers won't fall into these categories, be aware that these industries are prohibited:
- High-risk financial services
- Third-party lead generation services
- Debt collection or forgiveness
- "Get rich quick" schemes
- Gambling
- Illegal substances
- S.H.A.F.T. use cases (Sex, Hate, Alcohol, Firearms, and Tobacco)
If your business falls into any forbidden category, you won't be able to complete registration. See all forbidden message categories here.
Not Updating Examples Provided
Enrollio provides example messages during the registration process. You must update these with your actual center information—leaving the placeholder text will cause your registration to fail.
Review each message carefully and replace with:
- Your actual business phone number
- Your enrollment site links
- Your center name
- Real examples of messages you'd send to families
Inaccurate Company Information
Incorrect business information is a common cause of rejection. Your company name must match exactly across all documents.
Key Points:
- The name on your CP 575 (IRS document) must match your A2P registration exactly
- Include all punctuation, commas, and legal designations (LLC, Inc., etc.)
- Don't use DBAs or shortened versions of your legal name
Authorized Representative
The authorized representative must use a valid personal cell phone number. VoIP numbers like Google Voice are not allowed.
Take time to review all your business information carefully before submitting.
Broken/Inactive Links
All links you provide must be active and working. This includes:
- Opt-in form links
- Enrollment site links
- Terms and Conditions links
- Privacy Policy links
If any link results in a 404 error or doesn't load properly, your registration will be rejected. All links must point to your actual enrollment site—not another company's site.
Test every single link before submitting your registration to make sure they all work correctly.
FAQs
Where can I get my own Privacy Policy or Terms and Conditions?
We always recommend working with a lawyer to create legally compliant documentation. Many childcare centers also use services like Termly, Rocket Lawyer, or Termsfeed to generate these documents.
Some centers ask AI tools like ChatGPT to create a first draft, but hiring a lawyer is the only way to ensure full compliance for your specific situation.
How do I create a custom field checkbox for opt-ins?
You can add a custom checkbox field to any form:
- Open your form editor
- Click "Custom Fields"
- Create a new field
- Select "Checkbox" as the field type
- Add your verbiage
- Save
To edit this checkbox later, go to Client Account Settings > Custom Fields > search for your field > edit.

A CP 575 is the official document the IRS sends to your business. When submitting your A2P brand registration, make sure your company name matches the CP 575 exactly—including commas, LLC, Inc., or any other legal designations.
Don't have a CP 575? You can request one from the IRS, or register a Toll-Free Number or register your A2P as a Sole Proprietor instead.
