Enable Your Landline For Text Messages

If you already have a business landline with another phone carrier, you can enable it to send and receive text messages through Enrollio without changing your voice service. This is called Hosted SMS, and it's a great way to keep your existing number while unlocking two-way texting with parents.

What is Hosted SMS?

Hosted SMS lets you text-enable a phone number you own with another carrier. Your voice capabilities stay exactly the same — we only add the ability to send and receive text messages through Enrollio.

Think of it like adding texting to a phone that could only make calls before. Parents can text your existing number, and you'll see those messages right in your Enrollio inbox.

What types of numbers can be text-enabled?

Hosted SMS currently supports landline numbers in the US and Canada. Here's what you need to know:

  • Landlines: Yes — this is the most common use case
  • Mobile numbers: Not supported
  • VoIP numbers: Some providers are supported, check with our team
  • Numbers already using Twilio for voice: Cannot be hosted on another Twilio account for SMS

Pro tip: If you're unsure whether your number qualifies, reach out to our support team before starting the process. They can verify eligibility in seconds.

How to enable Hosted SMS for your number

To text-enable your existing landline, you'll need to complete ownership verification and sign a Letter of Authority (LoA). This ensures you have permission to use the number for texting.

Here's what to do:

  1. Gather the following information:
    • Your Client Account ID (find this in your browser's URL bar when you're in your account — it looks like: app.enrollio.com/v2/location/RNTEDRA9ap9xSh2MyTYS)
    • The phone number(s) you want to text-enable (format: +17787787878)
  2. Contact Enrollio support via 24/7 Live Chat
  3. Share the information above with our team
  4. Complete the ownership verification process they send you
  5. Sign the Letter of Authority (LoA) electronically

Once you submit everything, our team will process your request and text-enable your number. You'll be able to start texting parents from your existing business line within a few business days.

Important: Your voice service won't be interrupted during this process. Parents can still call your number normally while we're setting up texting.

What happens after setup?

Once your landline is text-enabled, parents can text your existing number just like any other mobile phone. Those messages will appear in your Enrollio conversations inbox, where you can reply, set up automations, and keep all your parent communication in one place.
