Overview

Text messages are a powerful way to stay connected with families — confirming tours, sending updates, and keeping enrollment conversations moving. But sometimes, messages fail to deliver.

This guide helps you identify why text messages don't go through and what you can do to fix them. Understanding these errors ensures your families receive important updates about enrollment, tours, and childcare services.

What Are Text Message Delivery Errors?

A text message delivery error happens when your message can't reach a parent's phone. Common reasons include:

  • Invalid or disconnected phone numbers
  • Parents who have opted out of messages
  • Carrier filtering (spam detection)
  • Unregistered business phone numbers
  • Technical restrictions from phone carriers

Most errors come with specific error codes that tell you exactly what went wrong. Once you know the code, you can fix the issue quickly.

Why Understanding These Errors Matters

Better Message Delivery: Fix common issues before they affect multiple families.

Faster Problem Solving: Error codes tell you exactly what's wrong — no guessing.

Stay Compliant: Avoid penalties by respecting opt-outs and carrier rules.

Stronger Communication: Keep enrollment conversations flowing without interruption.

How to Find and Read Error Codes

Step 1: Open Your Conversation Logs

  1. Click the Conversations tab in Enrollio
  2. Search for the conversation where the message failed
  3. Click on the conversation to open it
  4. Hover over the red triangle error icon next to the failed message

Step 2: Identify the Error Code

A popup will show the error code (like "Error 30034") and a brief description. Use the list below to understand what it means and how to fix it.

Common Error Codes and Solutions

Error 11751 – Message Size Too Large

What it means: Your image or video file is too big to send.

How to fix it:

  • Compress or resize your image before sending
  • Keep files under 5MB for multimedia messages
  • Use a photo compression tool before uploading

Error 21610 – Parent Opted Out

What it means: The parent replied "STOP" to opt out of text messages.

How to fix it:

  • Do not send more messages unless they text "START" to opt back in
  • Remove them from automated message campaigns
  • Reach out through email or phone instead
Pro Tip: Always include opt-out instructions in your enrollment messages to stay compliant with messaging laws.

Error 21612 – Can't Reach This Number

What it means: Your phone number can't send messages to this recipient due to carrier restrictions.

How to fix it:

  • Use a local phone number that matches your area
  • Check if the parent's number is international and requires special routing
  • Contact Enrollio support if you consistently can't reach local numbers

Error 30002 – Account Temporarily Suspended

What it means: Your messaging account was suspended between when you sent the message and when it tried to deliver.

How to fix it:

  • Contact Enrollio support immediately to resolve account status
  • Ensure your account billing is current
  • Review any compliance notices you may have received

Error 30003 – Phone Unavailable

What it means: The parent's phone is turned off, out of range, or temporarily disconnected.

How to fix it:

  • Try sending the message again in a few hours
  • Verify the phone number is still active
  • Consider reaching out through alternate contact methods

Error 30004 – Blocked by Carrier

What it means: The phone carrier is blocking messages to this number.

How to fix it:

  • Confirm the phone number is correct and active
  • Remove numbers with repeated delivery failures from your list
  • Ask the parent to check if they've blocked your business number

Error 30005 – Device Unreachable

What it means: The parent's phone has been off or out of range for an extended period.

How to fix it:

  • Wait and retry the message later
  • Clean your contact list to remove inactive numbers
  • Consider if this number should remain in your active database

Error 30006 – Landline or Can't Receive Texts

What it means: This phone number can't receive text messages — it's likely a landline.

How to fix it:

  • Remove landline numbers from your texting lists
  • Use phone number validation when collecting contact information
  • Ask families for their mobile numbers specifically
Pro Tip: When families enroll, ask specifically for "mobile number for text updates" to avoid landline issues.

Error 30007 – Blocked as Spam

What it means: The carrier blocked your message because it looks like spam or violates content policies.

How to fix it:

  • Avoid spam trigger words like "FREE," "Act Now," or excessive punctuation
  • Don't use shortened URLs — use your full enrollment site address
  • Personalize messages with the parent's name and their child's name
  • Register your business phone number properly (see Error 30034 below)
  • Keep messages relevant to childcare enrollment and family communication

Error 30034 – Unregistered Business Number

What it means: You're trying to send business messages from a phone number that isn't registered for business use.

How to fix it:

  • Contact Enrollio support to register your phone number
  • Complete business verification through our messaging provider
  • Link your number to an approved messaging campaign
  • Wait for registration approval before sending high-volume messages

Why this matters: US carriers require childcare centers to register business phone numbers to prevent spam. This is a one-time setup that protects your deliverability.

Error 30008 – Unknown Error

What it means: Something went wrong, but the system can't identify the specific cause.

How to fix it:

  • Check your message for unusual characters or formatting
  • Try sending a test message to a different parent
  • Send a simpler version of your message without images or links
  • Contact Enrollio support if the error persists

Error 11200 – Image Won't Load

What it means: Images in your messages aren't loading or sending properly.

How to fix it:

  • Check if your enrollment site's domain is configured correctly
  • Verify your domain settings point to Enrollio's servers
  • Contact support if you see this error repeatedly

Technical detail: This usually happens when your custom domain isn't properly connected to Enrollio. Your domain's CNAME record needs to point to our servers for images to load correctly.

Error 30024 – Sender ID Not Provisioned

What it means: You're trying to message an international number, but your business number isn't registered in that country.

How to fix it:

  • Gather at least three message IDs that show this error
  • Contact Enrollio support with those message IDs
  • We'll verify your registration status and help resolve the issue

Note: Some countries require special registration before you can send business messages. This is common when working with international families.

Best Practices to Prevent Message Errors

Keep Your Contact List Clean

Regularly remove disconnected numbers, landlines, and families who have opted out. A clean list means better delivery rates.

Register Your Business Number

Complete business phone number registration early in your Enrollio setup. This prevents the most common delivery errors.

Write Clear, Friendly Messages

Avoid spam-like language. Instead of "FREE TOUR — CLICK NOW!!!", try "Hi Sarah, we'd love to show you around our center. Are you free Thursday at 10am?"

Test Before Sending to Everyone

When creating a new message campaign, send a test to yourself first. Make sure images load, links work, and the message looks professional.

Respect Opt-Outs Immediately

When a parent opts out, stop messaging them right away. Not only is it required by law, it also protects your sender reputation.

Pro Tip: Check your conversation logs weekly. Patterns in error codes can reveal larger issues before they affect all your family communication.
