What is the File Type Filter?
The File Type Filter in your Media Library lets you instantly show only the files you need—photos, videos, documents, PDFs, and more. No more endless scrolling through mixed folders when you're looking for that enrollment form or parent night video.
The filter works across My Media, Google Drive, and connected libraries, and smartly turns itself off when browsing image-only sources like Unsplash.
Why You'll Love This
- Find files in seconds — Click Videos and see only your tour recordings
- Cleaner workspace — Hide everything except the file type you need right now
- Fewer clicks — Your search terms stick as you switch between My Media and Google Drive
- Works everywhere — The same filter appears whether you're building an enrollment page, scheduling social posts, or sending parent emails
- Smart behavior — Automatically disables in image-only libraries so you never see confusing empty results
File Type Categories
Your files are organized into six simple categories:
- Photos — JPG, PNG, SVG, GIF
- Videos — MP4, MOV, WEBM, AVI
- Audio — MP3, WAV, OGG
- Docs — DOCX, TXT, CSV, XLSX, PPTX
- PDFs — Enrollment forms, parent handbooks, policies
- Other — ZIP files and miscellaneous formats
How to Use the File Type Filter
- Open your Media Library from any module (enrollment pages, email builder, social planner, etc.)
- Look for the File Type dropdown in the top toolbar, next to Sort
- Click File Type and choose a category: Photos, Videos, Audio, Docs, PDFs, Other, or All
- Browse or search—only matching files will appear
Reset Your Filter
To see everything again, change File Type back to All. When you switch between My Media, Google Drive, and External Libraries, your File Type choice resets but your search term stays put.
How It Works With Search
Your search terms now stick as you move between My Media, Google Drive, and External Libraries. The File Type Filter works alongside search, so you can type "enrollment" and then filter to PDFs to instantly find enrollment forms.
Smart Context Awareness
When you're browsing a source that only contains one file type (like Unsplash, which is images-only), the File Type dropdown automatically disables. This prevents empty results and keeps your interface clean.
Works Across Enrollio
Because Media Library powers file uploads throughout Enrollio—in your enrollment pages, email builder, social planner, and more—this filter instantly improves every workflow. Your media organization stays consistent everywhere.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does filtering affect my storage or upload limits?
No. The filter only changes what you see on screen. Your storage usage and file limits remain the same.
Can I select multiple files after filtering?
Yes, but only within the current filtered view. If you need to select files across different types, switch File Type back to "All" first.
Why is the dropdown grayed out in Unsplash?
Smart Context Awareness disables the filter in sources where every file is already the same type. Since Unsplash only has images, filtering by type would be redundant.
Will my filter choice sync to my team?
No. File Type is a personal preference that resets each session for each user.
Is this available on mobile?
Not yet. The mobile Media Library includes basic search, and we're working on bringing filtering to mobile soon.
Does "Docs" include Google Docs links?
No. Docs refers to uploaded document files (DOCX, TXT, CSV, etc.). Linked Google Docs will appear under "Other."
