What is Inbound Calling on the Mobile App?

Inbound calling lets you receive calls made to your Enrollio phone number directly on your mobile device through the Enrollio mobile app. When a parent calls your center's main line, the call can ring straight to your phone — no matter where you are.

To make this work, you'll need to configure settings both in the Enrollio platform and on your mobile device.

Note: You must have an active phone number assigned to a staff member for inbound calling to work.

Why Use Mobile Inbound Calling?

Taking calls on your mobile app keeps you connected to families even when you're away from your desk:

  • Never miss important calls from prospective families
  • Handle tour inquiries and enrollment questions on the go
  • Support staff working across multiple locations or from home
  • Maintain a professional business number for all communications
  • Use automations like Missed Call Text Back to follow up instantly

How to Enable Inbound Calling

Setting up inbound calling requires two steps: configuring your staff member's profile in Enrollio, and ensuring your mobile device has the right permissions.

Configure Staff Settings

  1. Navigate to Settings in the main menu
  2. Select My Staff
  3. Find the staff member you want to enable and click the Edit button next to their name
  4. Click the Call and Voicemail Settings tab
  5. Assign an Inbound Number from the dropdown (if you want this staff member to have a direct line). Otherwise, calls will route based on your general call distribution settings
  6. Under the section labeled Forward Calls to, check the box for Mobile app
  7. Click the blue Save button at the bottom right

Enable Mobile Permissions

Your mobile device must allow the Enrollio app to receive calls in the background:

  • Enable notifications for the Enrollio app
  • Allow the app to run in the background
  • Disable battery optimization for the app (Android only)

Troubleshooting Inbound Calls

If calls aren't reaching your mobile app, check these common issues:

  • Staff settings: Verify that "Mobile app" is checked and saved in the staff member's Call and Voicemail Settings
  • App permissions: Make sure notifications are enabled and the app can run in the background
  • Battery settings: On Android, confirm battery optimization is disabled for Enrollio
  • Saved changes: Double-check that you clicked Save after updating staff settings

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I don't enable "Mobile app" in staff settings?

The staff member won't receive incoming calls on their mobile device. This checkbox must be enabled for calls to route to the mobile app.

Do I need to keep the app open to receive calls?

No, but the app must be allowed to run in the background and notifications must be enabled.

Can I automatically text families if I miss a call?

Yes! You can set up the Missed Call Text Back feature to automatically send a text message to families when you miss their call.

Can I receive calls on multiple devices?

Yes, you can receive incoming calls on up to 10 devices logged into the same account. Once you answer on any device, the call automatically disconnects on all other devices.

Note: This only works when the same user is logged in on multiple devices — it doesn't support multiple staff members sharing one login.

What if I'm part of multiple client accounts?

You'll only receive inbound calls from the last client account you actively switched to in the app. If you close and reopen the app, it will remember that account and continue routing calls from it.

If you switch to a client account that doesn't have inbound calling enabled, you won't receive calls from any account.

What happens when I get two calls at once?

If you're logged in on multiple devices and both ring, answering on one device will automatically disconnect the call on all other devices.
