What is number porting?
Porting a number is transferring a phone number between two telecom service providers. The process involves providing the right documentation to prove ownership of the number as well as execution of the transfer between the current provider and the new provider.
What are the steps to port in a Non-Twilio number?
- Contact your current carrier - the port request needs to be approved by your current carrier. Ask for your Customer Service Record to have access to the service address, company name (if applicable), account/PIN, and authorized user your current carrier has in file.
- Fill out the form below and upload the filled-out Letter of Authorization or LOA (link provided in the form) and current Phone Bill.
- Wait for completion date - Wait to hear back from us about the status update.
What to expect
Once the porting process starts, you will not be able to use the phone number.
The porting process typically takes 2-4 weeks. We recommend purchasing a toll-free number until the number porting is done. You can check out the Toll-Free Guide on how to set it up

What if my request got rejected?
Rejections occur for a variety of reasons, such as an incorrect account number or PIN for an account. Address or ZIP code that doesn't match the current carrier's record or a port request made by an unauthorized user on the account.
In nearly all cases, these rejections can be remedied by the rightful user of the phone number. However, rejections will inevitably delay the process of porting your number. The surest way to reduce the likelihood of a port rejection is to obtain a Customer Service Record (CSR) from the current carrier before submitting a port request to ensure that the information submitted matches the information on the CSR.
Please note that, because we do not have rights to a phone number before it's ported, we unfortunately cannot resolve rejections on your behalf. We ask that you reply with the updated information within the 3 business days after a port request has been rejected. After this time, the port may be canceled for inactivity. However, we can always resubmit the port request on your behalf.
