The Instagram Interactive Messenger action enables you to set up automatic Direct Message conversations on Instagram that include interactive elements. You can use this tool to respond quickly to comments or DMs about class schedules, registration, and more while engaging your prospective or current dance students with helpful, interactive messaging.
Navigate to Automation > Workflows
Open the Workflow Builder
Click on Actions > Communication > Instagram Interactive Messenger
This path allows you to easily add automated messaging actions into your communication workflows, ensuring your dance studio provides prompt and interactive responses on Instagram.
When setting up the Instagram Interactive Messenger action, you’ll encounter several components designed to streamline your dance studio communications:
Action Name: The label in your workflow that describes the action, such as “Class Inquiry Reply.”
Reply Type:
Reply to Comment via DM: Use when the trigger is a new comment on your posts (for example, a parent asking about a class) and you want to continue the conversation in a Direct Message.
Reply to DM: Use when you are directly responding to a Direct Message message.
Templates: Use pre-created snippets (found under Marketing > Snippets) to quickly insert common responses like class schedules or event details.
Message Body: The message builder where you compose your reply, ideal for welcoming new inquiries or providing detailed information about your dance classes.
Custom Values: Insert custom values set up in Settings > Custom Values; for instance, studio-specific details such as instructor names or class types.
Trigger Links: Insert links from Marketing > Trigger Links—great for guiding parents or students to online registration pages or more details about a specific class.
Attachment Options:
Add Attachment: Upload an image or flyer from your computer, such as a snapshot of your studio or a class schedule.
Add File Through URL: Insert a URL to a file, like a link to your digital brochure.
Interactive Elements:
Add New Button: Add a button to create interactive elements that guide the conversation (up to 3 buttons).
Add Quick Reply: Add one-tap response options that let your audience quickly select answers, such as “Class Schedule,” “Registration Info,” or “More Details” (up to 13 quick replies).
The real power of this tool for your dance studio is in its interactive capabilities through Buttons and Quick Replies, which help direct conversations along useful paths:
Buttons:
Provide persistent actions that your clients can use repeatedly.
They can perform tasks like redirecting users to your class registration page, opening a contact dialer, or triggering specific workflow branches (for example, moving a conversation toward booking a trial class).
Use up to 3 buttons in a message.
Quick Replies:
Offer one-tap responses that disappear after selection, creating a streamlined conversation.
They are ideal for keeping the dialogue focused, like quickly confirming class times or sign-up interest.
Use up to 13 quick replies in a message.
Note: When including quick replies, ensure no attachments are added in the same message.
In Instagram Interactive Messenger, you can either add buttons or quick replies, not both in the same message if you include attachments. With Instagram Interactive Messenger, you can automate your DM follow-ups just as effectively as the Facebook Interactive Messenger action, where you can combine Buttons, Quick Replies, and Files.
Imagine this scenario: a parent comments on your latest dance performance video asking about class schedules. With Instagram Interactive Messenger:
The comment triggers an automated DM that thanks them for their interest.
The DM can include a button labeled “View Schedule” that redirects to your class calendar or website.
